Essential Experiences

Living Life to the Full

  • In 2014 we asked the community to help us set our vision.
  • In 2015 you helped us to agree our core values.
  • In 2016 we asked you to help us compose a school prayer.
  • In 2017 you voted on your favourite carols for the Carol Service.
  • In 2018…

I’ve been inspired by the new tag-line for the diocese – “Life in all its fullness.” Actually, it was inspiring when we incorporated it into our vision 4 years ago.., and I’m sure the disciples were inspired when Jesus first used the phrase to explain his purpose “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (Gospel of John, Chapter 10). However, what does it mean for a 21 century child, and how does a school promote such an aspiration? We asked you for your ideas.

There were many hundreds of suggestions which, over the Autumn Term, 2018, the School Pupil Council whittled down to an essential ‘100’ – grouped by the four key themes of our school vision – Learning, Achievement, Faith and Fun. You may choose to use it as a family, as individuals or not at all. Be rigorous, be spontaneous or be dismissive, but at school we believe in living “life in all its fullness.” These rich experiences may inspire you to try something new. They will not be used as a checklist by staff, this is not additional homework, completion will not be ‘rewarded’, but of course we would be interested in children talking to us about their experiences and we commend it to you as a resource to encourage the development of well-rounded and resilient pupils. How will you use yours?
