Governors – Teaching and Learning

This page describes the work of the Teaching and Learning Committee.

Terms of Reference

1. To inform the Governing Body, as a whole, in its responsibility for ensuring that all children in the school have access to a broad and balanced education, relevant to the needs of all, and which provides continuity and progression.  

2. To ensure that the statutory curriculum requirements are delivered and assessment procedures are carried out in line within the legal framework.  

3. To familiarise itself with the OFSTED recommendations as a basis for supporting the school in providing high quality teaching and learning opportunities.  

4. To review and agree the teaching and learning policy, and curriculum–related policies for approval by theGoverning Body, including sex education, collective worship, Religious Education and other policies as required by the school’s Policy Review schedule. 

5. To contribute to the School Improvement Plan, ensuring that key curriculum priorities, those identified by OFSTED and SIAMS inspections and those arising from self-evaluation are included.  

6. To raise relevant curriculum matters at each full meeting of the Governing Body.  

7. To ensure that school meets the needs of vulnerable groups of children, including those with special needs, as laid out in all pertaining legislation, codes of practice and school policies.  

8. To monitor, review and published information about the school’s curriculum and performance, as required by statutory regulations.  

9. To communicate the school’s achievements and ethos to parents and the wider school community.  

10. To support communication between parents and the school on curriculum matters.  

11. To monitor pupil attendance in accordance with the school’s Attendance Policy.
